Mom's Socks
Written by Amanda and Dean Marchand
Mom's Socks is my first experience illustrating a children's book. The illustrations were created using soft watercolours to match the warmth of the story. I enjoyed collaborating ideas with the authors and working from the text to create each warmhearted illustration. Creating the characters of the story was enjoyable and entertaining. I personally liked creating the mother figure and emphasizing her expressions. Each of the illustrations were well thought out. As an illustrator I focus a lot on detail, ensuring that each page had a well developed background to make the characters come to life.
I would like to personally thank both Crafty Canuck Publishing and the authors for selecting me as the illustrator for Mom's Socks. I am honored to have the opportunity to illustrate such a warmhearted and loving story! In the future, Amanda and Dean hope to continue their Full Circle series, creating other stories with life lessons and traditions that get passed down through the generations. I look forward to the possibility of continuing as their illustrator and I am excited for what new adventure awaits these adorable characters!
Here is a sneak peek at some of the process work that went in to creating the final illustrations...
