Space Odyssey: Crash Landing on Callisto
Space Odyssey: Crash Landing On Callisto is a science fiction graphic novel I am developing. The story involves an astronaut set out to explore Jupiter. His spaceship was accidentally programmed with incorrect coordinates, causing a crash landing on Callisto, one of Jupiter’s moons. The astronaut takes on an unexpected adventure where he journeys to the center of the moon, finding unearthly creatures and unusual specimens along the way.
The graphic novel is broken into volumes that consist of 12-15 pages and the dimensions are 5.5” X 8.5” inches. The illustrations are done traditionally using graphite pencil and pen. The page layouts were created using Adobe Illustrator.
Throughout the story the astronaut comes across plant-like creatures that have become infected by bacteria, causing them to mutate and take on eerie human-like characteristics. The concept behind Callisto’s plants and specimens involves a fascination that I have with microscopic organisms.
I enjoy creating fictional worlds inhabited by giant specimens that are unable to be seen by the naked eye. I have an interest in studying specimens such as plant matter and objects under the microscope.
I am captivated by how many microorganisms are found within in every living thing and object. Under the microscope there is a hidden world of foreign intricate structures, complex texture and details waiting to be discovered.
